Chapter One
Emma rolled over in bed hitting her alarm clock and pulling the covers over her head. She was in no mood to go to school today or any other day for that matter. She would much rather lie in bed and waste away every second of the day. She had no desire to be the new girl in school. She sighed sitting up as she glanced around her room, most of which was still in boxes.
Slowly but surely she pulled herself out of bed making her way to the bathroom. It looked like a tornado had hit the place as she opened up the door. She smiled to herself knowing her sister Emily must have been up for hours primping for their first day.
“Emma! You up? Darren wants us to be ready to leave in half an hour?” came Emily’s voice from the other side of the door.
“Ya, ya I’m up,” she grumbled as she started the shower.
Once out of the shower Emma dried her hair and pulled it into a high ponytail leaving just her bangs out. She made her way over to her closet as her sister burst through the door.
“Hello you aren’t dressed?” she asked flipping her hair over her shoulder.
Emma glanced over her shoulder as she pulled on a pair of grey jogging pants. She rolled her eyes at her sisters perfectly pressed button down and flared skirt.
“Give me a few minutes will you?” sighed Emma as she pulled on a white wife beater and began searching for her black and white plaid shirt.
“Emma you can’t seriously be going to school like that?” replied Emily as she picked at her nails, “I mean it’s the first day we should actually try and look like twins.”
Emma pulled on her shirt doing it up part way as she stared at her sister. She couldn’t believe what a monster she had turned into since their parents died a few months earlier.
“We look alike they’ll be able to tell were not clones I refuse to dress like you,” replied Emma as she slipped on her white addidas and grabbed her school bag, “now let’s go before Uncle Darren has a cow.”
The girls headed down to the first floor to find their uncle waiting in the doorway. He reminded Emma so much of her father sometimes it was hard. He had the same eyes, same frown, same stance and even the same soft spot for the girls.
“Girls I expect you to be home on time tonight,” he said as he extended two car keys, “I won’t be home this week I’m flying to china for some business.”
Emma held in a sigh as she took her key. Uncle Darren was also nothing like his brother. He was a big business guy, always travelling not having much time to raise the girls. Her father had been the opposite. He had a nine to five job he loved and was always home on weekends to be with his kids, now he was gone.
“Ok Uncle Darren we’ll be good promise,” smiled Emily.
Darren stepped closer kissing the top of both girls’ heads then pushing them out the door. Emma looked back at the house as she climbed into her car. This was a life she wasn’t used to. Being on her own, having a maid, a cook, and a car that cost more then anyone needed. She glanced over at her sister who was pulling out of the driveway chatting away on her blue tooth. Well at least one of them was well adjusted.
